White repainted radiators
We have some amazing before and afters for you!
Last Saturday (another rainy day) we decided spontaneously to improve the look of our old radiators with a fresh coat of paint. So we headed to the nearest hardware store to buy medium grade sandpaper, paint brushes and radiator paint. Make sure to stick with a high-temperature paint and do not use latex paint, as this could lead to rusting!
We grabbed a piece of sandpaper and got started with removing all the old paint that was already starting to come off, and then dressed up the old radiators in a fresh white color. Sandblasting is an alternative to sanding the radiators, but we preferred sanding them right where they sat. The quality is undauntedly way better when sandblasting the radiator, but removing the radiators requires draining the whole system and moving around several hundred pounds. We figured that moving them without messing up our beloved hardwood floors would be a major challenge. So we took the easy route.
Here you can see the gruesome befores and also a half-painted radiator, which shows the dramatic difference:

Our radiators are now shining in a new white, and we couldn’t be any happier with the results of our effort. It feels like our whole flat got a major makeover!
